Which roles need a certification
CNA, phlebotomy and pharmacy technician roles generally require a specific certification, and the posting will say which one. Caregiver and home health roles frequently do not, and some employers will put you through the certification once you are hired.
If a posting lists a certification you do not have, read whether it says required or preferred. Those two words genuinely mean different things in this field.
What the work asks of you
Care work is physical and emotionally demanding, and shift patterns often include nights and weekends because patients need cover around the clock. Postings that are vague about the shift pattern are worth a question before you accept.
